Scholarship Overview
The Asian Development Bank – Government of Japan Scholarship Program graduate degree fellowship provides support for graduate (post-baccalaureate) studies in approved fields of study at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa (UHM), and for participation in educational activities at the East-West Center (EWC).

Eligibility

• Applicants must be a citizen of a developing member country of the Asian Development Bank.
• Applicants must have a 4-year bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of a 4-year bachelor’s degree, at the time of application. (An equivalent could be a 3-year bachelor’s degree plus a 1-year master’s degree, or a 2-year bachelor’s degree plus a 2-year master’s degree. This is subject to review.)
• Applicants must have a Master’s degree that is equivalent to a U.S. Master’s degree to apply for Doctoral studies.
• Applicants must have at least 2 years of full-time professional work experience after a university degree. •Applicants must take one of the English proficiency tests; the minimum acceptable scores are 550 for TOEFL or 6.5 for IELTS.
• Applicants living or working in a country other than his/her home country are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Scholarship Programme, 2012 Japan

Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Programme offers Scholarship for International Master’s Degree Programme in Strategic Management and Intellectual Property Rights at Aoyama Gakuin University, Japan, 2012

WCO has informed that the WCO will award a number of scholarships for the Master’s Degree programme in Strategic Management and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) at the Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU), Tokyo, Japan from April 2013 to March 2014.The Master’s Degree programme comprises two segments: an academic segment and a practical segment. The academic segment starts with focused teaching of foundational skills in strategic management and IPR. It then moves to a range of applied topics which help students understand how to design, implement, and evaluate public policies, in particular Customs policy, in accordance with development strategies for organizations. The practical segment is taught in co-operation with Japan Customs, including the Japan Customs Training Institute.


Eligibility:

1. The candidates should be in good health, preferably below 40 years of age as of 1 April 2013
2. The recipients of Scholarships under this Programme will enrol for the Master’s Degree programme in Strategic Management and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) programme at the AGU
3. This Scholarship is for one academic year starting from April 2013. There will be a preparatory course in March 2013 for a few weeks before the start of the Programme
4. The candidates should be Customs officers fully proficient in English
5. (a minimum TOEFL score of internet Based Test (iBT) 79 / Computer-Based Test (CBT) 213 / Paper Based Test (PBT) 550, IELTS 6.0, or its equivalent qualification to prove their language proficiency)
6. They should have a university degree or equivalent qualification
7. The candidates should have at least 3 years of work experience in Customs and should have assessed potential for advancement
8. In the selection, preference will be given to candidates who have experience in IPR border enforcement, and who are expected to work in the IPR-related section of their Customs administration after this Scholarship Programme.
